Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare in a clinical sample that subjects with obsessive-compulsive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder on certain task of Executive functioning.Method: the clinical characteristics and neuropsychological performance of adults with OCD (n=22), fulfilling DSM-IV criteria for OCD and control groups including Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and normal subjects, each group comprising 22 subjects matched for age, gender, level of education, marital status, were evaluated on BAI,BDI II, Y-BOCS, Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST).Results: In comparison, OCD subjects differed significantly and more poorly from control groups on the Wisconsin card sorting test. The results have shown no significant differences between GAD and normal control subjects.Conclusion: The results of our study suggest that some cognitive deficits related to neuropsychological dysfunction seem to be common in OCD rather than GAD and normal subjects.
